Baked Apple Donuts

Baked until golden brown and rolled in a sweet and crunchy cinnamon coating, these donuts are an irresistible treat after dinner. Best of all, they’re better for you than the usual fried donuts.

1 cup grated Good 4 U Fresh Fruit Granny Smith Apple (about 1 large)
1 egg
2/3 cup apple cider (approx.), divided
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
Pinch ground nutmeg

1/4 cup raw cane sugar
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease two standard donut pans; set aside.
In large bowl, whisk together egg, 1/2 cup apple cider, oil and vanilla; stir in grated apple and any juices. In separate bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, salt and nutmeg; stir into egg mixture.Spoon batter evenly into prepared pans. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes on middle rack of oven or until toothpick inserted in center of donuts comes out clean. Let stand for about 2 minutes or until cool enough to handle; invert onto rack.
